Sport in Binz & surroundings

The island of Rügen invites you to a variety of sports activities.

For example, you can do the classic water sports on the beach of Binz, such as beach volleyball, pedal boating, water skiing and banana boating.

Below you will find other suggestions that are very popular:

Fishing

Germany's largest holidaymaker island is a paradise for anglers and one of the best fishing areas in Europe. Both the inland waters and the Baltic Sea offer many opportunities. Right at our back house corridor is the Schmachter See, where mainly pike are caught, as shown next to it.

The company Baltic-King Guiding GmbH offers a very special service: the programme includes guided fishing tours around Rügen for almost all age groups, from beginners to professional anglers. The tours and fishing trips are offered for 2-4 people and start in Marina Wiek or in Altefähr (near the Rügen dam). The target fish species are salmon, sea trout, plaice, flounder, cod and mackerel. Pike, zander and perch are also caught in the Rügische Bodden. As every species of fish and every fishing area has its own special charm and those interested in fishing should get to know and enjoy it, Baltic-King Guiding has specialised in professional and individual guiding.

Cycling tours on Rügen

Fancy a bike ride across the island? Bicycle rental is possible in our pension. Away from the major traffic routes - through pristine mixed forests, along coastal strips, Bodden past wide stretches of land of West and South Rügen or on the car-free island of Hiddensee. It is best to take a cycling map to help and explore the official bike paths and the many field and forest paths to almost undiscovered corners.

Tour suggestion:

Take the inner road (Binz - Prora) to the Prora train station. Keeping to the right, you will reach the Railway and Technology Museum. At the entrance to the museum turn left. Thus you come - after about 1.5km turning right - to the ruins. Going straight again, you will reach the parking lot at the main road (bus stop Mukran Strand) and drive aud this road to the parking lot in front of the village Mukran. A signpost at this place will show you the direction to the flint fields (about 10 km). Driving on the road through the village of Mukran, you can turn left to Staphel. Keeping left behind the village of Staphel, you will reach a forest road to Lietzow (about 12 km).

Horse riding on Rügen

Rügen is a paradise for horse lovers. There are different offers for every level and age group. From pony riding for children to guided rides for advanced riders. The different riding styles are also offered, such as gaited horse riding, English riding and Western riding, which is suitable for long rides, because of the comfortable saddle.

Of course, you can enjoy a special feature only on the coast: Riding on the beach with the view of the Baltic Sea. Guided rides are also offered here, for beginners and for advanced riders. Some horse farms offer besides the classic riding also carriage rides, such as the 'Pferdehof am Ostseebad Binz' right near the Pension ANKER. You reach the horse farm a 200 meters behind the town exit of Binz in the direction of Sellin.

The Golfpaltz is the largest facility on Rügen and is located in the heart of the island and fits harmoniously into the natural environment.
Everyone can learn to play golf here, even without being a member of a club. The partly public golf course allows a harmonious coexistence of club life and public operation. The centerpiece is a 27-hole course with narrow fairways, impenetrable rough and tall trees.

Tennis

The Binzer Tennis Club is located about 5 minutes walk from the Pension ANKER and has a beautifully located and maintained tennis facility on the Klünderberg. Holidaymakers and guests are very welcome here. The tennis facility was completely renovated in 2007 and has 3 outdoor courts. The court is completed by a practice wall, by changing rooms and sanitary facilities, as well as a club building and a terrace.

The tennis club looks forward to free play during the summer months from May to September. We are also happy to arrange a playing partner or a tennis coach.
