On the Ruegen island, there are nearly 50 church buildings, mainly Protestant and only a few Catholic churches. Most churches date back to the 13th - 17th centuries and are located all over the island. The sizes of the churches vary significantly, ranging from the classic Gothic brick church to the little chapel. The photos above are pictures of 2 churches (St. Nikolai Church / St James’ Church) in Stralsund, located just in front of the entrance to the Ruegen island.
