air pictures of island ruegen
It is spectacular to see the island of Ruegen from the air. Typical of the island are large bluffs, called Bodden landscapes, as well as distinctive peninsulas, headlands and spits. Though the island’s size is about 50 x 40 km, no place on the island is more than 7 kilometers away from the water. Densely overgrown beech forests and lush meadows make a contrast to the water landscapes. A special feature is the seaside resorts at Ruegen with their historically grown style of the resort architecture. These include Sellin, Baabe, Goehren, Binz, Thiessow and Breege. The most famous landmarks are the chalk cliffs in the Jasmund National Park.
