The island of Rügen invites you to a variety of sports activities.
For example, you can do the classic water sports on the beach of Binz, such as beach volleyball, pedal boating, water skiing and banana boating.
Below you will find other suggestions that are very popular:
Fancy a bike ride across the island? Bicycle rental is possible in our pension. Away from the major traffic routes - through pristine mixed forests, along coastal strips, Bodden past wide stretches of land of West and South Rügen or on the car-free island of Hiddensee. It is best to take a cycling map to help and explore the official bike paths and the many field and forest paths to almost undiscovered corners.
Take the inner road (Binz - Prora) to the Prora train station. Keeping to the right, you will reach the Railway and Technology Museum. At the entrance to the museum turn left. Thus you come - after about 1.5km turning right - to the ruins. Going straight again, you will reach the parking lot at the main road (bus stop Mukran Strand) and drive aud this road to the parking lot in front of the village Mukran. A signpost at this place will show you the direction to the flint fields (about 10 km). Driving on the road through the village of Mukran, you can turn left to Staphel. Keeping left behind the village of Staphel, you will reach a forest road to Lietzow (about 12 km).
Rügen is a paradise for horse lovers. There are different offers for every level and age group. From pony riding for children to guided rides for advanced riders. The different riding styles are also offered, such as gaited horse riding, English riding and Western riding, which is suitable for long rides, because of the comfortable saddle.
Of course, you can enjoy a special feature only on the coast: Riding on the beach with the view of the Baltic Sea. Guided rides are also offered here, for beginners and for advanced riders. Some horse farms offer besides the classic riding also carriage rides, such as the 'Pferdehof am Ostseebad Binz' right near the Pension ANKER. You reach the horse farm a 200 meters behind the town exit of Binz in the direction of Sellin.
There are many possibilities on Rügen to go hiking during your vacation. The most important hiking trails are marked or signposted. In the following you will find a few suggestions:

The hiking trail starts at the Binzer Fischerstrand at the end of the beach promenade. Other stops are: Stairs or Pirate's Gorge - Silvitzer Ort - Kieköver (vantage point on Prorer Wiek, Binz, Sassnitz, Stubnitz) - Granitzer Ort - Schanzenort - Falkenberg (70 m): vantage point to Sellin, the Waldhalle inn used to stand here; please bypass the gorge - from here mark 'Schwarzer Strich' - high bank - open-air stage Sellin - stairs to the pier (6 km); on the Sellin pier you have the opportunity to strengthen yourself in the pier restaurant. Return to Binz with the small train Rasender Roland, where you will arrive at our pension after a 5-minute walk at the Binz small train station.
Germany's largest holidaymaker island is a paradise for anglers and one of the best fishing areas in Europe. Both the inland waters and the Baltic Sea offer many opportunities. Right at our back house corridor is the Schmachter See, where mainly pike are caught, as shown next to it.
All waters of the island of Rügen - Bodden, Haffs, Wieke, including the 12-mile zone of the Baltic Sea are considered coastal waters under the Fisheries Act of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Whoever wants to fish in these waters must be in possession of a valid fishing license. There are daily, weekly and annual fishing permits. They are available at the field offices of the State Office for Fisheries in Sassnitz, Lauterbach, Breege and Stralsund, but also in the fishing stores in Sassnitz, Bergen, Binz, Gingst and Altenkirchen.
The Binzer Tennis Club is located about 5 minutes walk from the Pension ANKER and has a beautifully located and maintained tennis facility on the Klünderberg. Holidaymakers and guests are very welcome here. The tennis facility was completely renovated in 2007 and has 3 outdoor courts. The court is completed by a practice wall, by changing rooms and sanitary facilities, as well as a club building and a terrace.
The tennis club looks forward to free play during the summer months from May to September. We are also happy to arrange a playing partner or a tennis coach.
Please make an appointment with the groundskeeper:
